Day 2           Thursday, May 11

9:00              Reading / discussion on history of Roman religion (animism to Christianity)

11:00            San Clemente

2:00              St. John Lateran, Scala Santa and Sanctum Sanctorum

   

Day 3           Friday, May 12

9:00              Meet at fountain, then depart directly to Roman forum (guided tour of Forum: Alberto Prieto)

Afternoon      Meet at Capitoline Museum

1:00              Meet at fountain for reserved tickets to Vatican museums and Sistine Chapel –immediately after, St. Peter’s Basilica and climb up to Dome.

Remember to be at the airport a long time before your flight departs. Three hours is not too much. If you are flying out of Rome for the USA, and if nothing has changed since last year, you will need to take a shuttle (“navetta”) to Terminal 5 (T-5) when you get to the Rome Airport (“Fiumicino”). This takes a little extra time. It departs from the

Include an entry on what is a “relic” in the eyes of the Roman Catholic Church. Give an example of a relic you have seen while in Rome. Are relics a distinctive feature of Christian Rome? Why or why not? What is the closest thing to a relic in either pagan or modern secular Rome?
